The background to the Irish Family Farming Foundation
The Irish Family Farming Foundation is in the process of being established by Stuart Meikle.
The Foundation has come about after Stuart spent a couple of years quietly studying the Irish agri-foods and farming sectors [his comments can be found via the link below]. As he resides in rural Ireland he has also become aware of the economic realities in the broader rural economy.
The Foundation's direction is Stuart's response to what he sees as the problems facing Ireland's farms and the wider rural environment which they inhabit. It is a solutions-driven response but realistically one that can only impact upon the few, at least in the short-term. It is hoped that the Foundation will raise the awareness of the family-farming income situation in rural Ireland and the implications that it will have, if left unchecked, for its traditional family-farming based way of life.
